I’ve dedicated a page to products due to the huge lack of knowledge within the nutritional consumer community. This is a gigantic industry that most people shop blindly in.
As we grow into young adults, we’re taught to check the nutrition labels of packaged foods for fat, sugar, carbohydrates, & protein. This is a great first step towards being aware of what you choose to eat, however, it doesn’t and shouldn’t stop just there.
For those of us who have become more aware of the foods we eat, you may have began purchasing foods with the “Gluten Free,” “Dairy Free,”or “Non-GMO,” labels. These are important labels to pay attention to, however there are much more toxic substances to be aware of that known to cause harm to the human body, aside from the processed food itself.
Chemical compounds are not only found in processed foods, but are also found in nutritional supplements!
The quality of products used to support the body can nutritionally support & even deplete the body over time, depending on whats entirely in the supplement. Most nutritional manufacturers use materials that are not “live-source derived,” (once living), toxic tag-alongs, chemicals, or other synthetic agents during their manufacturing processes.
These materials or chemical compounds are called excipients.
Why are excipients used?
They speed up production rate and allow cheaper manufacturing.
Toxic excipients can be found in more than 90% of the nutritional supplements out on the market! The most common form of nutritional supplements that contain excipients are in a tablet form, like below.
Tablets require thousands of tons of pressure to “squeeze” all of the nutrition it potentially has to offer. When the body has to break this tablet down, the molecular structure becomes so deconstructed that it creates more stress in the body, creating more challenge for its nutritional breakdown. In this situation, the body is responsible for using its own nutritional reserves to break down this foreign supplement.
The nutritional industry is very sneaky, and chooses code words (pseudonyms) to disguise these excipients. The next time you go to your local health food store, I dare you to pick up your favorite nutritional supplement to see what you find listed under “Other Ingredients.”
Commonly Used Excipients
Magnesium stearate – a cheap lubricating agent; research shows it to be immune-compromising
Methyl paraben – a benzoate family member; a known cancer-causing agent
Microcrystalline cellulose – a cheap filler used as machine lubricant
Silicon dioxide – a cheap flowing agent (common sand)
Natural flavors – an AKA for MSG (monosodium glutamate), a well known neurotoxic agent
Methacrylic copolymer – methacrylic acid, a component of the methacrylic acid copolymer, has been reported to act as a teratogen in rat embryo cultures.
Triethyl citrate – a plasticizer
Titanium dioxide – used for color; liver toxic
Corn starch – typically from cheap GMO corn; can invoke allergic responses
Talcum Powder – a common excipient rarely not listed on product labels; a suspected carcinogen
The excipients listed above are commonly found in more than 90 % of nutritional supplements found on the shelves!
